READING & LANGUAGE

We will be starting the year with a Science book called Think Like a Scientist.  We will be learning how to write good questions, observations, inferences, and predictions.  Our first Word Study list will last for 2 weeks, since our first week is so short.  Our first Word Study test will be September 1.

May 16 - Field Trip to Foothills Learning Center

May 18 - Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast (8:15 - 8:45 in the gym)

May 26 - ROAR Assembly at 1:00 in the gym

May 29 - No School, Memorial Day

May 30 - Field Day (2nd Grade goes in the afternoon)

May 31 - Talent Show (2pm in the gym)

June 1 - Kindergarten Promotions

June 2 - Family Picnic (11:30 - 12:30)

June 2 - Early Release at 1:35

MATH

Our first few weeks of school will be filled with many Math activities to review and refresh all basic math facts to 18.  We will be working on conceptual development as well as strategies to memorize the facts.

SCIENCE & SOCIAL STUDIES

Our first unit in Science and Social Studies is Landforms, Erosion and Weathering!  The students will have many fun activities during this unit!
